BECOMING WILDER

A photography blog

dream come true

Almost two years ago, touched by numerous events and musing in my life, I almost manically visioned a dream of the future.

I created, wrote, and designed a whole concept and application of honoring the Scared Feminine through photography. I wanted to make a way for a process of individuation (see Carl Jung) of a woman to incorporate the larger archetypical aspects of herself....the empress, the high priestess, and embodiment of all that she is. In this process I saw the power behind photography able to capture this moment of wholistic embodiment, to serve as a reminder for all time.

Here are a few note entries I wrote down in my journal from that dreaming time:
A sacred ritual and photography session all in one, to embody and cherish the transformational power of the sacred feminine.
Combining self exploration, archetype reflection, self love affirmations, tarot, and goddess personification gives you an experience of pampering, self appreciation, growth, and personal power manifested.
This photoshoot is a ritual to bring you back to yourself.
After my brain storming, I went so far as to make up a webpage for this session, and design the promotional materials.

Once all this work was completed, I sat back in awe of it all, and said to myself, “Now isn’t the time for this.” As much as I wanted to push forward with all the work I just had produced, I knew in my deepest gut that I needed to wait.

As deflating as this was, there was a huge part of this equation that was still missing. I needed a healer, a wise woman, a seer, the other part of this session. Many beautiful women came to mind, but none gave me the gut “YES” I was looking for. So, the idea was laid gently to sleep, a lover I barely knew.

I never forgot about the goddess in my drawer of notes; she lay there sleeping.

I started exploring this concept more for my own self beginning in the spring of this year. I played with my own identity, my own higher self, my own goddess embodiment. Not to push my idea, but because it’s what my own soul was seeking.

Here are some of the photos I took during that time. Each a different goddess, a different feeling, a different power, a small part that makes up the greater me.
Then, on August 2nd I was introduced to the woman who I had been subconsciously looking for.

This is a photo from that day, the first time April and I met.
April Jay of Resilience Reiki asked to have coffee with me. I eagerly agreed, and then mistakenly showed up 4 hours early (I was too eager) for our coffee date. When we did finally meet, April, this woman who feels like the warmest hug you’ve ever experienced, repeated back to me my own idea.

I sat there dumbfounded by the words she spoke. Every part, every detail, completely in line with my vision from the past. She was the healer, needing a photographer to make her own vision come true. Was is divine destiny that we found one another? You couldn’t convince me otherwise.

The rest from there was easy. She had her program in place, taking on 6 women to heal and transform over 5 weeks. Her session’s include card reading, dousing, guided meditations, reiki and channeling. A powerhouse bundle of deep, soul healing.

To conclude her 1:1 sessions with each woman, a group ceremony was the grand finale, bringing community healing and sisterhood to each woman. A perfect place to offer my own gifts.

We spent time laughing, crying, eating, meditating, healing and bonding together. Then, we played. Each woman was given a beautiful gown, one which she felt most closely aligned with her highest self.

The rest doesn’t call for much explanation. I hope in viewing these photos, you feel the power, joy, peace and sacredness that lay in each woman pictured. All the same that lies within you.
April and I are currently dreaming up our next vision together. There will be more from us. I throughly believe this is a necessity within our culture right now. People are craving connection, embodiment, healing and vulnerability. If April and I can be the conduits of such healing, you can trust we will do so.
